David Burkus is a best-selling author, a sought build key connections—one based on the science of human behavior, not rote networking advice. He’s delivered keynotes to the leaders of Fortune 500 companies and the future leaders of the United States Naval Academy. His TED talk on "How To Hack Networking" made me view the time spent at cheesy networking events just doesn't work. He is a regular contributor to Harvard Business Review, and associate professor of leadership and innovation at Oral Roberts University.

His forthcoming book, Friend of a Friend, offers readers a new perspective on how to grow their networks.

Apologize for the sound. Somehow I muffed my mic??!

  • In this episode, we cover:
  • Becoming a"accidental" professor :)
  • How networks really should really work
  • The Science Behind networking (not listening to one person's advice on networking).
  • Why is networking important? It's just not about work.
  • Examples of having social capital with UFC's Dana White
  • Which type of networks provide you with new ideas and opportunities?
  • Getting nothing from mixer events
  • What influence does our network have on our health and wellbeing?
  • and much more!
